Who is the Rose?

You are the Rose. I am the Rose. We all are the rose.

The inspiration for the name Casa de la Rosa comes from the 1979 acclaimed movie, The Rose, a dramatic film about the tragic life of a self-destructive rock star.  The film is said to be loosely based on the life real-life rock star Janis Joplin, but whether you can sing or not, we can all relate to those agonizing self-defeating elements within us.

The movie tragically ends with the main character, Rose, collapsing from an overdose while performing on stage at a hometown concert.  Despite her success, she cannot accept the love and applause being showered upon her.  Can you relate to that "not good enough" feeling - despite all the external evidence otherwise?

Casa de la Rosa is the place to rewrite story, because you are good enough.

Casa de la Rosa Writing Center programs strive to provide you structure, education, social support, encouragement, and pathways to your own emotional healing.  We provide tools, resources, and support for you to accomplish your goals.  Consider Casa de la Rosa Writing Center programs as guides along the way.

The time has come for you to declare yourself good enough.  You can learn to accept the love and you can choose to have it fuel your expression and joy.  The world is waiting for your story.  Everyone--even a professional singer like Janis Joplin--can belt a bad note from time to time, but don't wilt before the bloom.  Give your dream the time and energy it deserves.  Finish strong and take a bow for giving your best effort.

Below are the lyrics to the song written by Amanda McBroom, to the Grammy Award winning song for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance by Bette Midler.

 The Rose

 Lyrics written by Amanda McBroom

Some say love, it is a river, that drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor, that leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love, it is a hunger, an endless aching need
I say love, it is a flower, and you, its only seed

Its the heart afraid of breaking, that never learns to dance
Its the dream afraid of waking, that never takes the chance
Its the one who won't be taking, who cannot seem to give
And the soul afraid of dying, that never learns to live

When the night has been too lonely and the road has been too long
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love in the spring becomes the rose
